About Me

I'm a Sports Dieitian with a passion for helping others reach their goals. I feel like I am truly "living the dream" because it has been a long road to where I am today.

I first became interested in nutrition in general while I was competing in athletics in high school. I was a swimmer but also on the cross country team to keep in shape during the off-season. While training for my first half marathon, I realized something was missing. I was really tired. Really sore. Really struggling around the 8 mile mark. Yes, I will admit at this time I couldn't think of anything more delicious than a crunch wrap supreme, Chicken Express tenders with extra fried okra or the late night Pop-Tart. It was at this point that I became interested in fueling for my runs. I found that the interest in fueling for my runs turned into fueling for better energy, better concentration and healthy weight loss. The strategies I learned from a registered dietitian gave me the exact tools I needed to improve my performance.... and I was shocked. I was all in. I decided to let this new passion lead my career decision.

I went on to Texas Christian University where I was extremely happy to make it into the Coordinated Nutrition Program in Dietetics as well as become a loyal Horned Frog! Throughout my studies, I accumulated the hours needed to sit for the registered dietitian exam through internships with the community gardens, WIC, Huguley Hospital, Birdville ISD, & Ben Hogan Sports Therapy. I was able to spend my last semester with Amy Goodson where I learned that sports nutrition is definitely for me because it combines nutrition, fitness, speaking, building relationships and the spontaneity of a different day every day.

I entered the Sports Nutrition program at Texas Women's University to earn my master's degree in May 2011. Since then, I have been working to gather my hours to take the CSSD exam this July! After a great experience from my role as Performance Nutritionist at Athletes' Performance in Frisco, TX, I have moved on to working with Special Forces soldiers at Ft.Bragg, NC.

I stay up to date on the latest research by staying involved with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), Sports, Cardiovascular & Wellness Nutrition (SCAN), and Collegiate and Professional Sports Dietitians Association (CPSDA).

Thanks for visiting FUELED. My goal is to encourage you, direct you and help you fill your body's tank bite by bite with the best fuel possible!
